About Rounds
Rounds builds software that helps Ontario emergency department physician groups make sure their billing is complete, accurate, and fully paid.
We're engineers, physicians, and health informatics specialists. The founding team has worked at Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, University Health Network, Apple, and Tesla.
This is our first dedicated billing hire. You'd be the in-house authority on how OHIP claims actually get paid and the domain expert whose judgment shapes the product.
What you'll do
- Be the source of truth on the Schedule of Benefits for emergency medicine: H-code assessments, special visit premiums, after-hours and age premiums, procedures, and how billing works under AFA/AFP arrangements.
- Audit physician group billing data: spot missed premiums, underbilled assessments, and rejected claims that were never recovered.
- Reconcile the full claim lifecycle: submissions, remittance advice (RA) files, error and rejection codes, resubmission windows, and stale-date rules.
- Review our software's outputs against your own read of the same claims. Tell us when it's right, when it's wrong, and why.
- Keep us current: INFOBulletins, Schedule amendments, MOH payment cycles, and changes to premium eligibility.
- Support onboarding of new physician groups: data intake, MCEDT workflows, and designate setup.
What we're looking for
- Hands-on OHIP billing experience. Emergency or other hospital-based specialties are a plus, not a requirement.
- Deep working knowledge of ED fee codes and premiums, including under AFA/AFP arrangements.
- Direct experience with MCEDT, RA file reconciliation, and rejection/error code recovery, not just claim entry.
- You can look at a month of a physician's billing and spot what's missing.
- Comfortable in spreadsheets and comfortable working alongside a software team. You don't need to code, but you'll be asked precise questions and we'll act on your answers.
Nice to have
- Time at a medical billing agency, or on the Ministry side (claims assessment, Claims Services Branch).
- Experience billing for an AFA-funded ED group.
- Familiarity with common Ontario billing software.

Details
- $80,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on experience and range of expertise.
- Remote, or in person in Toronto.
- Open to full-time or a fractional/part-time arrangement for the right person.
- You'll work directly with the founders.
